IRTC UPDATE:
Public health officials advise the current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.59 per cent. Sixteen new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. This brings the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba to 558.
- The data shows that there were:
- 11 new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
- 5 new cases in the Southern Health region
- The data also shows:
- Six current hospitalizations, with three individuals in intensive care
- 196 active cases and 354 individuals have recovered from COVID- 19
- the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is eight
Manitoba’s chief provincial officer of health, Dr. Brent Roussin, said the cluster of cases in Brandon has grown to 64 cases, and added the province is now seeing the early stages of community transmission. Dr. Roussin stated, “There are small numbers of cases with unknown acquisition, which we would determine to be community-based transmission”. According to Dr. Roussin, these cases in Brandon are all linked to one person who returned to Brandon from eastern Canada and did not properly self-isolate.
Weekend update: Saturday- 35 new cases and Sunday – 16 new cases for a total of 51 new cases this weekend
Cases Include:
- 1 new case from the IERHA region this weekend
- 32 new cases are from the Prairie Mountain region this weekend
- 14 new cases are from the Southern Health region this weekend
- 4 new cases are from the WRHA region this weekend
