IRTC UPDATE:
Public health officials advise the current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.78 per cent. Thirty-eight new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. In addition, four other cases have been removed from the list. This brings the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba to 731.
- The data shows that there were:
- one new case in Interlake-Eastern Health region
- 20 new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region (including five children under 9 years, and four children age 10 to 19 years)
- 12 new cases in Southern Health region
- five new cases in the Winnipeg region
Preliminary investigations indicate that the majority of today’s Prairie Mountain Health and Southern Health regional cases are linked to a known cluster.
Health officials said one of the new cases is at Bethesda Place personal care home in Steinbach. That one case identified at the PCH in Steinbach has led the province to declare an outbreak at the facility.
- The data also shows:
- 11 current hospitalizations, with three individuals in intensive care
- 232 active cases and 490 individuals have recovered from COVID-
- the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is nine
- Weekend Total is 56 new cases:
- Saturday August 15, 2020: 20 new cases, 3-Prairie mountain, 6-Southern Health, 11-WRHA, also the Province announced the 9th death related to COVID-19-a male in his 80’s from Portage la
- Sunday August 16, 2020: 36 new cases, 9-Prairie Mountain, 1-IERHA, 21-Southern Health, 5-WRHA.
Public health officials are advising of a potential exposure to COVID-19 may have occurred on Aug. 5 to 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the 7- 11 (3360 Victoria Street) in Brandon. While the risk of transmission is considered low, information is being provided to help people assess their risk and seek testing if symptoms

Regional Health Authorities and Health Districts
Public Health officials are now releasing COVID-19 case data based on the health district in which the case is identified. There are 5 RHA’s in the Province with health districts with each region. Postal codes are used to determine the district a case is reported in – Mb Health Card.

- When a positive or suspected case of COVID-19 is identified in a FN community: FNIHB will notify the Public Health nurse in community, and Chief & council will be notified of a case but not the name of the The public announcement from MB Health will be the district the FN is in, and not the actual name of the FN.

Tribal Education Director Update:
The Province has released specific guidelines for returning to school this September. Schools will reopen on Sept. 8, with teachers and staff returning Sept. 2 to get ready.
Some recomendations include:
- Students in Grade 5 and above, as well as teachers and staff, are strongly recommended to wear a non-medical mask in common areas throughout schools and when physical distancing of two metres is not possible. Younger students can wear masks
- Masks will be required when on school buses for all students in Grades 5 and above. Boarding and exiting the bus will be done with physical distancing and assigned
- Any incident of COVID-19 in a school will result in immediate contact by Public Health with instructions if that student and/or cohort must self-isolate, if they need to be tested and when they can return to
