IRTC UPDATE:
Public health officials advising a tenth and eleventh death related to COVID-19 have been reported, both in the Southern Health region. A male in his 80s from the Hanover health district and a male in his 90s from the Niverville/Ritchot health district. These are previously announced cases connected to known clusters and the individuals were hospitalized.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.8 per cent. Seventeen new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. One case was removed from the list and brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 748.
- The data shows that there were:
- two new cases in Interlake-Eastern Health region
- two new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
- two new cases in Southern Health region
- 11 new cases in the Winnipeg region
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Winnipeg cases are mostly related to contacts that turned into cases. There are cases with unknown acquisition in the region. Case investigations are ongoing and when they are completed, additional information will be provided as needed to inform of any public health risks.
- The data also shows:
- eight current hospitalizations, with two individuals in ICU
- 235 active cases and 502 individuals have recovered from COVID-19
- the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is eleven
Among the new Winnipeg cases are two children aged nine and under, as well as five men and one woman in their 20’s

Regional Health Authorities and Health Districts
Public Health officials are now releasing COVID-19 case data based on the health district in which the case is identified. There are 5 RHA’s in the Province with health districts with each region. Postal codes are used to determine the district a case is reported in – Mb Health Card.

- When a positive or suspected case of COVID-19 is identified in a FN community: FNIHB will notify the Public Health nurse in community, and Chief & council will be notified of a case but not the name of the The public announcement from MB Health will be the district the FN is in, and not the actual name of the FN.

**Prairie Mountain Health Region-City of Brandon district: 82 active cases Tribal Education Director Update:
The Manitoba government is releasing practice guidance and protocols to ensure students, teachers and families know what to expect upon returning to classrooms in September and to provide consistency across schools, Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced today.
Some recommendations include:
- Students in Grade 5 and above, as well as teachers and staff, are strongly recommended to wear a non-medical mask in common areas throughout schools and when physical distancing of two metres is not possible. Younger students can wear masks
- Masks will be required when on school buses for all students in Grades 5 and above. Boarding and exiting the bus will be done with physical distancing and assigned
- Any incident of COVID-19 in a school will result in immediate contact by Public Health with instructions if that student and/or cohort must self-isolate, if they need to be tested and when they can return to
