IRTC UPDATE:
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is three per cent and 67 new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. One previously- announced case has been removed from the case totals, bringing the net number of new cases today to 66 and the total number of cases in Manitoba to 2,344.
Today’s data shows:
- one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region
- six cases in the Southern Health region
- three cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
- 57 cases in the Winnipeg health region
The data also shows:
- 863 active cases and 1,454 individuals have recovered from COVID-19
- there are 25 people in hospital and six people in intensive care
- the number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 27
Laboratory testing numbers show 2,736 tests were completed yesterday bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February to 200,710.
CASE INVESTIGATION UPDATE
- Seven Oaks Middle School, 800 Salter St., in Winnipeg on Sept. 28 to 30. Based on the public health investigation, there is no evidence of in-school transmission, or that the infection was acquired in school. Public health is reaching out to close contacts to advise of the need for self-isolation and the impacted cohort is transitioning to remote
- Earl Grey School, 340 Cockburn St. N., in Winnipeg on Sept. 29 to 30, and Oct. 7. Based on the public health investigation, there is no evidence of in-school transmission, or that the infection was acquired in school. Public health is reaching out to close contacts to advise of the need for self-isolation and the impacted cohort is transitioning to remote learning.

General Information for Fall 2020
At this time, Manitoba families are encouraged to reduce the number of close contacts outside of their households and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces.
Manitobans, and those visiting from out of province, are also strongly encouraged to focus on the fundamentals to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This includes:
- Staying home if you’re sick, even if your symptoms are only
- Washing/sanitizing your hands
- Covering your
- Practicing physical distancing when you are with people outside of your
- Wearing a mask in indoor public spaces in situations where you cannot physically distance, or as required by public health
For those considering family, workplace or social celebrations, this fall it is recommended to limit holiday gatherings to household members, reduce your number of close contacts and limit the number of gatherings you attend to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Additional measures for those considering seasonal celebrations or family gatherings include:
- People socializing in-person together are advised to physically distance themselves from members outside of their household, except for brief necessary
- Traditional greetings such as handshakes, kissing and hugging should be
- As has always been the case, members of the same household do not need to physically distance from each
- Minimize workplace and other social celebrations and maintain physical
- Where possible, plan for all or part of a celebration/gathering to be held
- Where possible, consider virtual gatherings or other contactless
- Everyone attending should self-screen for symptoms using the COVID-19 screening tool or the COVID-19 screening questions before attending an in-person celebration or gathering. Stay home if you are
- Discourage attendance for people at higher risk of experiencing severe
- Maintain lists of attendees for 21 days to ensure appropriate public health follow-up can take place if an attendee is exposed to COVID-19 during the celebration or ceremony.
