Treaty One Territory – Interlake Reserves Tribal Council (IRTC) issued the following statement congratulating the newly elected Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) Grand Chief Kyra Wilson.
“On behalf of the seven First Nations making up the Interlake Reserves Tribal Council, I want to extend our congratulations to Kyra Wilson on her election as Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs,” said IRTC Chair Chief Cornell McLean. “We look forward to working with Grand Chief Wilson to advance the priorities and the dreams of First Nations in Manitoba.”
“A big congratulations to newly elected Grand Chief Kyra Wilson on her election to Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs. The IRTC looks forward to working together and being a strong voice for our communities here in Southern Manitoba,” added IRTC Chief Executive Officer Karl Zadnik. ”From the Outlets Channels project to making sure our families have promised access to support through Jordan’s Principle to protecting and strengthening access to culture and language, there are many priorities we look forward to working on together.”
“We also want to take a moment to remember and honour the late Grand Chief Cathy Merrick and her loved ones. Grand Chief Merrick was an invaluable support and champion for advancing the priorities of First Nations in the Interlake region,” added Zadnik.
