IRTC UPDATE:
Public health officials advise the current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.25 per cent. Forty new cases of the virus have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. This brings the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba to 643.
- The data shows that there were:
- 25 new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
- five new cases in Southern Health region
- 10 new cases in the Winnipeg region
- The data also shows:
- nine current hospitalizations, with three individuals in ICU
- 246 active cases and 389 individuals have recovered from COVID-19
- the number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at eight
Preliminary investigations are ongoing but indicate that the majority of Prairie Mountain Health cases continue to be linked to previously- announced cases in Brandon with early indications of community transmission. Case investigations are ongoing and when they are completed, additional information will be provided as needed to inform of any public health risks.
Public health officials are advising of two potential exposure to COVID- 19 may have occurred. The first potential exposure was on Aug. 7 at the Sobey’s (1570 18th Street) in Brandon and Aug. 10 at the Minnedosa Hospital (334 1st Street).
The second exposure is on Aug. 9 at the Cartwright Town and Country Golf Club (along Highway #3, just west of Cartwright).
More details about Manitoba’s back-to-school plan were also announced on Thursday. Students in grades 5 to 12 will now have to wear face masks while riding the bus, and will be strongly recommended — but not forced — to wear them in crowded spaces and common areas at school. https://manitoba.ca/covid19/restoring/rss-practice-guidance.html

Public Health officials are now releasing COVID-19 case data based on the health district in which the case is identified. There are 5 RHA’s in the Province with health districts with each region. Postal codes are used to determine the district a case is reported in – Mb Health Card.

- When a positive or suspected case of COVID-19 is identified in a FN community: FNIHB will notify the Public Health nurse in community, and Chief & council will be notified of a case but not the name of the The public announcement from MB Health will be the district the FN is in, and not the actual name of the FN.
